Funding comes in a handful of broad categories. These are general routes, not named awards. Cubico shows you where funding realistically matters on your own list, and we never invent an award we cannot verify. Cubico estimates what each university is likely to cost you after aid. Merit-based aid
Awarded for an academic record, a talent, or a strong all-round profile, not on family finances. It can cut the sticker price meaningfully, and eligibility differs by programme and intake round.
Need-based aid
Assessed against a family's finances. It is more common in the US than the UK or Canada, and for international students it varies hugely: some universities meet full need, many meet none.
University scholarships & bursaries
Offered directly by the institution, often with their own forms, deadlines and eligibility rules tied to a specific programme. These move quietly and are easy to miss, so Cubico flags them on your list, and a counsellor can go through them with you if you want.
External & government awards
Funded by governments, foundations and employers, with applications and timelines that rarely line up with the admissions ones. These are general categories, so always confirm eligibility with the awarding body.
